How we 'goat' here... Our Story

It’s said that opportunities show up in the most unexpected places. Up until March 2020, our farm was outgrowing French beans for a local exporting company with much bliss. Then, Covid 19 struck, international flights were suspended, and no one knew when normalcy would return.

The weeks that followed the travel suspension were an emotional roller-coaster. When we were not tending the French bean crop, we were online seeking alternative uses for a crop that was giving us every indication that it was going to be our best harvest ever.

In our research, we went from learning that leguminous plants like French beans make excellent fodder for goats when combined with other food groups; to the fact that goat milk, a product of dairy goats - is a wholesome and healthful food, and a great alternative dairy for people with sensitivities to regular milk. Right in the middle of a calamity, an opportunity for us to solve a problem for many families was beginning to unfold.
In May 2020 when the Covid numbers crossed the 1,000 mark in Kenya, we hang up our gloves, brought down the entire crop which was now overgrown, and resolved to follow our new-found purpose.

Following our family’s love for learning, we embarked on a careful selection of a suitable goat breed and then started to grow our goat herd and putting in place the highest standards of care and protection for the animals. Our goat barn and paddocks for example, provide our animals with an excellent living environment that supports their wellbeing.

Together with housing, goats’ health and nutrition have a huge impact on milk production and milk quality. To ensure that our goats get high quality food all-year round, we grow a wide-ranging variety of feeds on the farm. The feeds are organically grown using the rich and plentiful manure from the farm.

In May 2021, we started to pasteurize the goat milk, and in July of the same year, our fresh whole, pasteurized Morning Dew product was certified by KEBs as meeting the food safety and quality requirements.

Our home delivery distribution model hopes to bring our 100% pure, premium goat milk products to more homes each day so that a greater number of young families can enjoy the nutritional benefits of goat milk, live their best lives, and celebrate their everyday milestones together.
